The CDENE: a key partner in Nova Scotia`s community economic development.
Of the 938 000 persons living in Nova Scotia, more than 37 000 speak French. The French-speaking population thus has a very real impact on the province`s economy. Nova Scotia`s Francophone and Acadian communities have traditionally relied on fishing and tourism. However, these industries are prone to economic hardship. It is important for many or these mostly rural commuities to find ways to diversify their economy and create new jobs.
The CDENE acts as a catalyst for economic development in the province`s Francophone and Acadian communities. Our Community Economic Development Officers work with these communities in order to understand their needs and help them put plans into action to ensure their economic viability
