Futurpreneur Canada and the CDÉNÉ Sign Partnership Agreement
Halifax, Nova Scotia – Wednesday, March 4, 2015 – The Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse (CDÉNÉ) is pleased to announce that it has signed a partnership agreement with the national Futurpreneur Canada network, formerly known as the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF).
“We’re delighted to be going ahead with this new partnership, in which Futurpreneur and the CDÉNÉ will work together to support Francophone entrepreneurs in the province,” declared David Eisnor of Futurpreneur Canada.
Under the agreement, CDÉNÉ employees will now be able to provide support and coaching on finalizing and assessing business plans. They will also be available to help candidates fill in various loan application documents. The role of the CDÉNÉ will also be to help the staff of Futurpreneur Canada to recruit qualified individuals willing to be mentors and to administer other services, such as informing potential candidates about criteria for eligibility.
The main goal of the agreement is to support developing entrepreneurship in order to improve economic development in the Francophone and Acadian communities of Nova Scotia. “The CDÉNÉ is very happy to partner with Futurpreneur Canada. This project is an excellent tool to bring forward the business ideas of young entrepreneurs in our province. We are very happy that our team will be able to help young enterprises to start up and to facilitate mentorship.” Charles Gaudet, President of the CDÉNÉ, added.
Under the agreement, all of the CDÉNÉ’s points of service (Argyle, Clare, Chéticamp, Isle Madame and Halifax) can now provide Futurpreneur Canada partnership services. Residents of the South Shore, Sydney, Pomquet and Truro can also take advantage of these services via videoconference, telephone or the Internet.
Futurpreneur Canada’s services include support from an experienced business mentor. This allows young entrepreneurs to take advantage of a wide range of resources related to the day-to-day management, planning, growth and health of their new business. The mentoring may last up to two years. Start-up funding of up to $45,000 is also available. Note that mentorship and funding are available only to those aged 18 to 39.
The signing took place on Tuesday, March 3, at the Halifax Hampton Inn, with members of the CDÉNÉ’s Board of Directors looking on.
